MIDTERM ORAL EXAM INFORMATION

Suki's Kimono Story

As we move through another short week of instruction, our Monday and Tuesday lessons will be compact yet focused, with progressive activities designed to strengthen reading comprehension, vocabulary, and grammar skills.

This week, students will continue working in their Reading and Writing Notebook (RWN) with an emphasis on:

  • Adjectives and Articles (pp. 320–326)

  • Main Idea (p. 322)

  • Compare and Contrast (p. 317)

Additionally, we will continue our in-depth reading and discussion of Suki’s Kimono. Students will practice identifying key details, understanding character motivations, and summarizing the story through important sentences. These activities are intended to enhance both comprehension and analytical thinking.

In the upcoming Thursday's 10/23, homework and Friday's 10/24 lesson, we will also begin with a detailed review of the forthcoming Midterm Exam vocabulary and spelling with definitions.

Unit Test Reminder:
Our Unit Test is still scheduled for Thursday, October 23rd.
The test will cover:

  • Review Week 7 & 8 Story Words and Definitions

  • Story Comprehension Handouts (please review these in the Homework Bubble Book)

  • RWN Adjectives and Articles (pp. 320–326), Main Idea (p. 322), Compare and Contrast (p. 317)

Week 3

  This week will be an intensive week of learning as we complete The Man Who Invented Basketball . Students will be introduced to a new set of story words, though words #7, #8, and #22 will not be included in testing out of respect for personal beliefs and values . Alongside the story words and story comprehension, students will also focus on grammar with an introduction to pronouns. To conclude the week, our unit test on Thursday will cover the key components taught throughout these daily lessons. Week 4 begins with a new story of Hottest, Coldest, Highest, Deepest Week 4 PPT This expository text details some of the most amazing places on Earth. There is information about the longest river—the Nile—to the snowiest place on Earth—Mt. Rainier and many other facts and interesting places. This week, Sensay will be implemented for homework.
