Week 12 What Jo Did
Week 12 Vocabulary and Spelling
As we begin Week 12, our primary focus will be on vocabulary and spelling, specifically on adding -s and -es to base words. Students will work on spelling accuracy, understanding word meanings, and applying vocabulary through sentence usage and context clues.
In addition, students will be introduced to the following word parts:
- Prefix un-: meaning not or the opposite of
- Suffix -able: meaning able to be
- Suffix -less: meaning without
These concepts, along with this week’s spelling words, will be assessed in a quiz on Thursday (Period 2). A brief review lesson will be conducted in Period 1 before the quiz.
Please note that this is a shortened instructional week. There will be no classes on Friday, May 1st, due to an official holiday, and also no classes on Monday, May 4th.
Homework for the long weekend:
- Complete a writing template and first draft of a news report on a favorite sport or hobby
- Begin reading the assigned story carefully, highlighting key elements and identifying any unfamiliar words or phrases
