Oral Exam Information and Scope

Dear Grade 4-A2 students and parents,

As our Final Exams are quickly approaching, A2 students will also be preparing for their Oral English Exam on June 11th.

The oral exam will require each student to read aloud one of three Reading Street vocabulary stories. The story will be selected at random on the day of the exam from the following passages:

  • At the Game (p. 177)
  • And the Winner Is (p. 321)
  • Paradise Island (p. 349)

After reading the passage aloud, students will be asked 3–5 comprehension questions related to the story. Both the reading and comprehension portions of the exam will be assessed using a standardized reading rubric.

To help your child prepare, please encourage them to practice reading these passages aloud with clear pronunciation, appropriate pacing, and expression. Students should also review the story content to ensure they can confidently answer comprehension questions about the text.

Thank you for your continued support in helping your child prepare for a successful final examination period.
