Week 15 The Man Who Named Clouds
Week 15
RWN for The Man Who Named Clouds
Dear Parents and Students,
During Week 15, A2 students will complete their lessons on the Reading Street story The Man Who Named Clouds. Through this informational biography, students will learn about Luke Howard and his important contributions to meteorology, including the development of the cloud classification system still used today. Students will also explore how different types of clouds can help predict weather conditions and patterns.
In addition to reading comprehension activities, students will continue building their academic vocabulary by practicing and reviewing the Week 15 story words in their Communication Books. Students are encouraged to study these vocabulary words regularly at home to strengthen both reading comprehension and speaking confidence.
From their RWN (Reader’s and Writer’s Notebook) lessons, students will continue developing their grammar skills with a focus on:
- Action Verbs – verbs that show physical or mental actions
- Linking Verbs – verbs that connect the subject to additional information in the sentence
Students will practice identifying and correctly using these grammar concepts through class activities, written exercises, and review assignments.
All Week 15 lessons and review activities are designed to help students prepare for their upcoming Unit Test, which will take place on Thursday, May 21st, during Period 2.
Please encourage your child to:
- Review vocabulary words daily
- Re-read the story and class notes
- Practice grammar exercises involving action and linking verbs
Thank you for your continued support in your child’s learning and success
