Story - Adelina's Whales




As we begin our final story of G4 Adelina’s Whales unit, Week 16 will focus on our vocabulary and spelling lessons. The 6 key vocabulary words are important words from the story. I encourage students to read p. 349, Paradise Island, in the Reading Street book to better understand the meaning and context of each word.

Our spelling words this week are homophones, which can be tricky. Students will need to carefully read the context of each sentence to choose the correct word, since homophones sound the same but have different spellings and meanings.

Our weekly quiz will be on Thursday during Period 2.

Week 3

  This week will be an intensive week of learning as we complete The Man Who Invented Basketball . Students will be introduced to a new set of story words, though words #7, #8, and #22 will not be included in testing out of respect for personal beliefs and values . Alongside the story words and story comprehension, students will also focus on grammar with an introduction to pronouns. To conclude the week, our unit test on Thursday will cover the key components taught throughout these daily lessons.
